Alhaj Isola Adepoju (Mallam Yusuf's Father) |
Mallam Yusuf Adepoju, a global gift who shines from a family of esteemed educators; Alhaji Jamiu Adeniyi Isola Adepoju (late) and Alhaja Amdalat Ibidunni Adepoju of Akeyo’s compound, Ilobu, Osun State. In January 1995, during Mallam Yusuf Adepoju's days in Ondo State, he founded a Daw'ah group to re-engage Muslims who had drifted away from their faith. This initiative evolved into ACADIP, a global organization that has facilitated thousands of conversions to Islam across Nigeria and expanded internationally.
MORE ABOUT HIM:
Yusuf Adepoju hails from Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government of Osun State, South-Western Nigeria. He possesses a characteristic charming grace, with a slightly dark complexion, moderate height, and a face beaming with splendour, complemented by a thick beard. This combination makes him an amiably handsome young man full of energy and valour.
Adepoju is a phenomenal figure who does more than just gossip about what could be described in a metaphorical sense as the late Islamic apologists' "reincarnate." He equally possesses similar zest, wisdom, intelligence, oration, zeal, knowledge, and most importantly, an understanding of the dynamism and fluidity of "Apologetic Da'wah" or "Comparative Da'wah," or "Inter-faith Dialogue" favoured in scholastic terms.
Mallam Yusuf Adepoju is a comparative giant in intellect. The Comparative Daw'ah methodology has evolved over the century, despite initial concerns from some Islamic scholars regarding its modus operandi. It is progressive and effective, with its amenability to corrective incursions by Muslim scholars streamlining the multi-criticality of its early scholastic backlash into a restrictive cautionary verdict of "no insult, no abuse of their gods."
Late Brother AbdulLateef Adebowale's Jihad was short-lived, as Allah called him back within a few years of his Da'wah. We pray that Allah grants him Al-Jannat Firdaus and forgives his shortcomings (Aamin). Shortly after his death, the Izharul Haqq Organisation broke into sub-groups due to leadership issues, and today, no group can be said to be a continuation of his lofty agenda and Da'wah.
However, with the emergence of the Founder of ACADIP Organisation, what we lost in Brother AbdulLateef Adebowale has been compensated. Mallam Yusuf Adepoju has revived the lost glory of comparative Daw'ah in Nigeria, particularly in the South-West, in a greater dimension! Adepoju is "Adebowale plus." Some other brothers are also involved in this kind of Da'wah, but few have advanced to wield a global dimension like Mallam Yusuf Adepoju.
His flexibility and humility are demonstrated in his ability to subject his teachings and preachings to the critical prism of the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet. Adepoju does not claim to be a "Muslim scholar" and remains a student of knowledge, as expected of any Muslim with authentic Aqeedah. While some apologists in his bracket assume titles like "Mufti," "Muslim scholar," or "Ustaz," his followers only refer to him as a "Muslim Scholar of the Christian Bible." Dr. Zakir Naik has also maintained that he is not a Muslim scholar but a student and a preacher.
Mallam Yusuf is currently the Managing Director of the Islamic Cultural and Enlightenment Centre, founded by his father in 1965. He has positioned Ilobu on the global map through his Islamic preachings and has succeeded in refining and engaging many Ilobu youths in his Islamic organizations.
After three decades of delivering erudite open-air lectures in various locales across Nigeria and beyond, ACADIP has ushered in a novel paradigm of vibrant and enthralling evangelism, showcasing Islam in its pristine and unadulterated form, thereby fortifying the convictions of devout Muslims while simultaneously rousing the somnambulant, tepid, or ostensibly nominal Muslims from their state of slumber.
ACADIP Creation History: What Inspired Him?
The genesis of Yusuf Adepoju's 30-year mission to propagate Allah's Religion began with his frequent attendance at Islamic Vacation Courses organized by the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the 1990s. There, he encountered publications by the late Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, a renowned scholar of Comparative Da'wah, whose works are known for refuting falsehood and guiding many to Islam. Later, a meeting with Dr. Dawood Ayodele Amoo Alaga, another prominent scholar, further motivated Yusuf. These experiences, along with the influence of international comparative scholars, prepared him for his divine mission.
Noticing the alarming rate at which Muslims were leaving Islam for other religions due to deception, Yusuf was determined to act. In January 1995, he and a group of talented Muslim youths founded the Academy of Islamic Propagation (ACADIP) to promote Islam, the only religion acceptable to Allah (SWT), through comparative analysis of world religions, particularly Islam and Christianity.
The media are always updated with the names of reverted brothers and sisters to Islam, and the use of social media such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. has really enhanced ACADIP's Daw'ah efforts. To his teeming followers on the net and elsewhere, the announcement of any upcoming lecture signifies an impending reversion of many non-Muslims to Islam. ACADIP today has gone beyond the founder alone; it is collectively owned by all Muslim brothers and sisters concerned about the implications of a person dying without being a Muslim. ACADIP is closely followed by millions of admirers and well-wishers through periodic updates of ACADIP activities..
Right from 1992, Mallam Yusuf Adepoju had started holding indoor debates and dialogues with non-Muslims, starting with the topic "The True Path to Salvation." Subsequently, he took a step further by extending his Da'wah activities to educational institutions in the South-Western states of Nigeria. Yusuf Adepoju invited friends like Abdul-Hafeez Igbayilola, Engr. Suraj Subair, Moshood Ajayi, Jamiu Odunmbaku, and Naheem Odebunmi to form the Daw'ah group, his own initiative, "Academy of Islamic Propagation" (ACADIP), with the motto "Uncovering their Cover-ups." Islamic pamphlets and tracts were published to this effect and were distributed free of charge.
The coming on board of the likes of Imam AbdulWaheed Tijani Adeoye, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Oyelami, Mallam Tajudeen Akinsowon, Mallam Taofik Adeoti, Ustaz Mutiu Oladeji Idowu, Late Abdulsemiu Adekola, Ustaz Saheed Akanbi, Mallam Saheed Oyedotun, and later a few others saw ACADIP extend its Islamic propagation from the FUTA campus and environs to many states in the South-West, Nigeria.
The first Akure public lecture, held at Agoro Bus-Stop, High School Area, Akure, was blessed with a female revert to Islam, the first revert ever recorded in Ondo State by the Daw'ah team. After that, they held a three-day public lecture series at Adejare, Igboliki, and many other areas in and around Akure. In 1999, at Igboliki area of Akure, a former CAC chorister, Emmanuel Oluyemi Johnson, embraced Islam and chose the name Abdulfatai. In 2000, the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Akure branch, organized a 2-day program at Araromi, where two non-Muslims reverted to Islam, namely Tope Igbekele, now Dawood, and Tunde, who turned Abdus-Salam. As Allah destined, Abdus-Salam died in a motor accident in 2006 (May Allah grant him Aljannat Firdaos).
ACADIP has consistently and persistently held several lectures in over a hundred villages, towns and cities in Nigeria.

Many non-Muslims embraced Islam en masse, including Muslims who had strayed away from Islam.
In 2001/2002, ACADIP began the 'Town-moving Programme Series' like Akure for Islam, Ile-Ife for Islam, Osogbo for Islam, Ilobu for Islam, etc. During the 2001 Holy Pilgrimage, Mallam Yusuf Adepoju was accorded a private civic reception in Makkah by Dr. Naseef Abdallah, former Vice-Chancellor, King Abdul-Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and later, Honorable Speaker of the Saudi House of Assembly.
In 2003, a uniformed unit known as "ACADIP SECURITY CREW (ASEC)" was formed, now comprising hundreds of members, to perform security duties at lecture venues and other organized Islamic gatherings or functions to which ASEC may be invited. For almost three decades, the Academy of Islamic Propagation, under the leadership of Mallam Yusuf Adepoju, has continued to "uncover their cover-ups," where "their" refers to "Bible Thumpers, Anti-Islam Preachers, House-to-House Bible Canvassers, Hot Gospellers, Peddlers of lies against God, Those who sell deceit and conceal the truth with falsehood, and others with ideologies contrary to the religion of Islam."
In an attempt to "uncover their cover-ups," ACADIP has staged public lectures and debates within and outside Nigeria over thirty years, giving non-Muslims the privilege to ask questions. Consequently, many Muslims who had strayed have returned to their path of bliss, Al-Islam, with thousands of non-Muslims embracing Islam. Over the years, ACADIP has openly challenged leading Pastors in Nigeria, but these requests have been declined, as that would provide an opportunity for many to be set free from bondage.
Consequent upon this, Mallam Hassan Ajao, one of the leading poets in this part of the world, summarizes this journey with the lines below:
OUR TREASURE, ACADIP, has lived long to outgrow cloth, to witness the coming of its ecstatic treasure and the parting of some pathetic pleasure. Many moments we ask why; other times we feel shy. But which of the favors of our Lord can we deny? We sailed through the storm and the roaring thunder; we were patient through it all and overcame it all. His favor kept us moving, spewing the truth despite humiliation, accepting to spread the word of Allah even if it is just a verse.
ACADIP is waxing stronger, despite false allegations of various kinds. For one with Allah is a majority, and many without Allah are a minority. This calls for a deep-rooted exploration of the past, for precious time can't be forgotten. Reflection can't be for nothing; it's time for self-admonition for yesterday, yesteryear, and upcoming years.
The ray of ACADIP da'wah activities renders their falsehood handicapped. Some say we are anti-Christ; others say we are harming Christ. But this train of ACADIP is meant to uncover their cover-ups on our beloved Jesus Christ. This da'wah demands a simplistic force; we never mind the incurred course, their black gods must be sleeping, and their white gods must be dreaming.
We pray Allah preserves the lives of Mallam Yusuf Adepoju and members of the Academy of Islamic Propagation and gives him more succour and support to continue to 'uncover "their" cover-ups.' Da'wah Continua, Reversion Ascerta.

Mallam Yusuf faces increasing opposition from both non-Muslims and hypocritical Muslims. However, he chooses to address these challenges through legal means, promoting civility and respect. By taking legal actions against online bullies and harassers, he has significantly reduced the incidence of cyberbullying against respected Islamic figures. As an academic leader, he sets an example, encouraging others to respect the law and fear the consequences of their actions. Mallam Yusuf only takes legal action against those who have intentionally and maliciously harmed him or other respected Islamic personalities, demonstrating his commitment to justice and fairness.
